Cronulla´s Cabout helps steal game from KFC Breakers in Brisbane
It´s amazing how an Olympic champion can inspire a team. In Australia Dutchwoman Mieke Cabout spearheaded her Sealevel Cronulla Sharks team to a nail-biting National Water Polo League 9-8 victory over the more fancied KFC Queensland Breakers at the Valley Pool last night.
Hungary Stops USA Men 11-5 On Day Two Of Volvo Cup
Budapest, Hungary - February 25 - The USA Men's National Team came up short in an 11-5 loss to Hungary earlier today on day two of the Volvo Cup. In a rematch of the Gold Medal game from the 2008 Olympics the Hungarians used a strong first half to distance themselves from Team USA en route to the victory. Ben Hohl (Atherton, CA/Stanford WP) led the USA on offense with two goals and Merrill Moses (Palos Verdes, CA/NYAC) stopped nine shots in net. :

Los Alamitos, CA - February 25 - The City of Los Alamitos, the California National Guard, and the Cancer Support Foundation invite you to participate in the 29th Annual Los Alamitos Race on the Base this Saturday, February 27, 2010. The race is held on the runways at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos and features helicopters, planes and military vehicles with music throughout the course. Approximately 6,000 participants, spectators and volunteers attended last year’s event. Events include: a 5K Run, 10K Run, 5K Walk (now timed!) in cooperation with the Cancer Support Foundation, 10K In-Line Skate/Wheelchair, and Mission: Kids Run, and the Reverse Triathlon which consists of a 5K Run, 12 Mile Bike, and 200 Meter Swim at the USA Water Polo National Training Center on the Joint Forces Training Base. The event also features an exceptional vendor area, $5 All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast and free Family Fun Zone.

Greece and Russia in head-to-head-clash
The All-European clashes of the Men´s FINA World League will go on tomorrow night with the matches of game day 4. In Group 2, the first series of these round-robin matches had ended with a three-way tie, when Croatia, Greece and Russia took two victories each in three games. Tomorrow night Greece and Russia will face each other on Greek soil. The Group 1 clash between Montenegro and France is shown on satellite TV by Montenegro´s national broadcaster RTCG.
USA back in action: 13-9 victory in Germany
(Wolfgang Philipps) In their first match since the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Italy World´s number four USA gained a well-earned 13-9 victory against sixth-ranked Germany in a friendly match at Potsdam, Germany. In front of a full-capacity crowd, left-handed player Monsees and Tony Azevedo scored three goals each for the North Americans, who will take part in a four-nation tournament in Hungary this weekend.
KFC Breakers gain two exciting NWPL draws with Fremantle
In Australia the KFC Queensland Breakers men found the first chink in Fremantle Mariners´ armour when the two National Water Polo League contenders drew their match at the Valley Pool at Brisbane last night. The reigning champion Mariners withstood a fierce two-game assault by Victorian Tigers last week, only to find themselves a goal down heading into the final quarter last night.
AUSTRALIA : JETS FIRE AFTERBURNERS IN FINAL QUARTER FOR NWPL DRAW
(Russell McKinnon) In Australia the Fyfe Adelaide Jets men came from four down in the final quarter against Brisbane Barracudas to level their National Water Polo League match 9-all in Adelaide yesterday. Three down at the last break, the Jets were staring at a heavy defeat when Brisbane Matt Giles made it 9-5 a minute into the final period. However, four home goals, including the last from Nicholas Martin 37 seconds from the final siren, clinched an unexpected draw.
FIVE DENISOV GOALS SACK SORI IN LEN TROPHY OPENERS
Five Denisov goals sack Sori in LEN Trophy openers This year´s competion of the Men´s LEN Trophy started with three Qualification Round I matches in Mataro, Spain. In the clashes of Group B the Russian representative CSK VMF Moscow gained a 12-11 victory against Italian newcomer RN Sori, when Denis Denisov scored five goals for the former European Cup winner form the Russian capital. Three other tournaments will start tomorrow in Montpellier, France, the Croatian harbour city Split and Amersfoort, Netherlands.

"Bud Greenspan Presents: Beijing 2008 — America's Olympic Glory" is a step above network news packages and focuses on athletes seeking second chances: sister fencers Keeth and Erinn Smart; gymnast Nastia Liukin; water-polo player Brenda Villa; rower Mary Whipple; swimmer Jason Lezak; and 100-meter hurdlers Dawn Harper and Lolo Jones, who fell. The film, premiering at 7 tonight, will be repeated Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Showtime 2.

LOS ANGELES -- June 15, 2009 -- The world's best male water polo players will compete for $500,000 in prize money and the coveted championship title in the FINA Men's Water Polo World League Super Final this week.
